Three legs are better than two
Workshop on Saturday
Using simple
construction techniques we will build tripods to demonstrate their
usefulness. Whether as a start for a teepee or shelter or as a
bushcraft chair, the tripod uses simple tool use and knotwork in a
fun way to encourage children in further build projects. We will
also
talk about the use of Hazel as a sustainable building material.
About Simon
My name is Simon Holland and as a child I grew up with the Scout Association and later spent most of my free time outdoors in the chalky hills of Hampshire and South England. I now guide children in adapting to our natural surroundings. I believe the ability to adapt is a fundamental skill across all walks of our human experience.
Bushcraft to me is the ability to solve problems in the natural world using tools and knowledge that are as relevant now as when our ancestors used them. In our current media dominated world it is essential that everyone has the opportunity to make a connection to nature, to ensure a more balanced approach to life.
